FiXed Piloting Unit (FPU) has been approved.

It is with great pleasure and pride that we can announce that our FiXed Piloting Unit (FPU) has been approved by the Panama Canal Authority. The FiXed Piloting Unit has been fully developed by our R&D team within the Alphatron Marine headquarters in Rotterdam.

For those not aware of this product, this is a new high-precision positioning system required for NeoPanamax vessels that need to pass through the Panama Canal.

The FiXed Piloting Unit contains two GNSS receivers with the latest technology, provides position with centimetre precision, speed, course, turning speed, AIS and UHF receivers, all in a sturdy housing. All data are available via Wi-Fi to the tablet and application used by Panama Canal personnel during a transit through the Panama Canal, but can also be used by the crew if required.
