Japan Radio Co., Ltd.(JRC) added new features to "Smart Ship Viewer" (SSV), a ship-to-shore information service provided to ships, to further enhance safe navigation.
Overview
Since the launch of SSV in April 2019, JRC has received positive feedback from numerous customers and the user base has steadily increased. SSV is an application that supports safe navigation by relaying the status and information of managed vessels to shore (the fleet management company). In response to customer requests, we have expanded SSV's services, including playback of VDR.
The new features mainly improve the operability of managing multiple vessels from shore by the fleet management company. Allowing users to easily and thoroughly check the status of managed vessels has improved usability. We have also developed a smartphone application for crew members on board, which helps improve work efficiency.
Dashboard
This feature allows the navigation status and alarms of multiple managed vessels to be displayed on a single monitor, so vessels requiring attention can be quickly identified.
VDR data playback
This feature allows data stored in the vessel's VDR to be downloaded and played back remotely. By playing the data on SSV from the fleet management company's office, detailed data can be analysed quickly. In addition, users can access and easily replay data stored in the cloud*1 and view previous navigation data*1.
Mobile application ‘Sail Assist‘
This is a smartphone application that can be used on board the ship*2. By linking to SSV, crew members can easily access ship information even outside the bridge, contributing to improved work efficiency.
